Divorce and child custody investigations

Divorce and custody cases turn on facts: how a child is cared for, who lives in a household, what assets exist and where money has gone. Ronin Consulting helps clients and their family law attorneys gather those facts lawfully and document them clearly.

Custody matters

When a child's wellbeing is in question, observation can document the conditions a court cares about: supervision, the people present in a household, and whether agreed schedules are kept. We focus on facts relevant to the child, not on embarrassing a parent.

Assets and finances

Our financial asset investigations can help identify property, business interests, judgments, liens and other public-record information relevant to equitable distribution and support. Where discovery tools through counsel are needed, we work alongside your attorney.

Cohabitation and support

Some agreements change when a former spouse lives with a new partner. Documented observation over time can show whether cohabitation is actually occurring.

Working with your attorney

Most family law matters are best run through counsel, so the investigation supports a legal strategy instead of working against it. Jim regularly coordinates with legal teams and can prepare reports with that audience in mind. See also attorney and litigation support.

Every matter is overseen by Jim Galvin, a former NYPD detective with 23 years of service, including 13 years in the Detective Bureau and led multiple investigative units. Jim is a licensed private investigator and notary. More about Jim.

Questions

Can investigation evidence be used in family court?

Lawfully gathered, well-documented observations and records may be used. Admissibility is decided by the court; your attorney can advise on your case.

Should my attorney hire you, or should I?

Either can work. Engagement through counsel can help with privilege and strategy. Ask your attorney which they prefer.
